This tracker keeps the 49-name community master list requested by players while showing the evidence conflict instead of hiding it. Current island/rod/bait tables from multiple guides agree on 44 entries. Five additional names — Clam, Brown Crab, Blue Crab, Sunfish and Flounder — appear in 49-creature lists but are not present in the cross-checked 44-entry table. They remain searchable below with a community label.

Island 1 fish locations: Lighthouse
Use the Crab Fishing Rod. Regular catches use Free Lure or Hot Dog; Spider Crab uses the Empty Beer Can. Do not repeat the old table error that listed Rock Crab twice as two species. Clam, Brown Crab and Blue Crab are retained as community-list entries until their in-game encyclopedia mapping is independently captured.
Island 2 fish locations: Forest
Island 2 is not “Beginner Lure only.” Mackerel and Gar use Free Lure; Pike and Goldfish accept Free or Beginner; Cod, Perch and Triggerfish use Beginner; Piranha still uses the Crab Rod with Hot Dog. Giant Piranha requires the quest Modified Leech, while The Old Pike uses Beginner Boss Lure.
Island 3 fish locations: Desert
The regular pool uses Standard Lure. Blue Shark uses Standard Boss Lure. Pufferfish is the story exception and uses the Carrot returned through the tourist request.
Island 4 fish locations: Rocks
The regular pool uses Professional Lure. Tuna uses Professional Boss Lure, and the intact Tuna body is the trigger for Albatross. The Flounder entry is preserved from the 49-name community list but is not in the current 44-entry cross-check.
Island 5 fish locations: Volcano
The regular pool uses Scientific Lure. Goblin Shark uses Scientific Boss Lure; Bowhead uses Fish Bucket; the intact Bowhead body triggers Mutated Bowhead Whale.
Rare, Drip and disputed names
Drip variants use the normal island pool for their base creature; no official special Drip lure or guaranteed cast count is published. Open Tab and compare the missing silhouette after each catch. Other sources also use names such as Goby, Bowlfish and Dripper inconsistently. Keep the spelling shown by your live encyclopedia and treat guide-name differences as aliases, not proof of an extra species.
