How to Fish Collector Achievement: Kill Every Creature

Collector is the fourth rarest of the 28 achievements: only 18.5% of players have it.

Its official text is one line: “Find and kill all the creatures”.

Three traps people fall into

1. A catch is not a kill. Reeling a fish up and releasing it, or only lighting up its encyclopedia entry, does not satisfy the requirement.
2. You need all 49 normal creature entries. The Drip variant of each creature counts as a separate achievement (Fishipedia). Normal and Drip are two different slots in the encyclopedia, and one does not replace the other.
3. Memory will lose you entries. Open the encyclopedia with Tab and look for the empty slot. Do not track the total and hope.

What people miss most

• Ground pickups. Clam, for example, is picked up off the ground, not caught.
• Boss Lure spawns. These never appear in the normal pool; you need the boss lure equipped.
• Quest-triggered creatures. They need a quest item, an NPC hand-in or a boss trigger, and they are easy to miss once the hand-in is done.
• Drip variants. Ignore these for now; they belong to Fishipedia.

The cleanup order that works

1. Finish the story route first. All five prerequisite islands unlock the rods and lures you need. Skipping ahead means driving back and forth.
2. Check your equipment. Each island’s normal pool uses a different lure; locations and lures are in all fish locations.
3. Go back for the optional creatures. Boss Lure spawns and hand-in triggers, one at a time.
4. Then sweep the encyclopedia. Open Tab and go after the blanks.
5. Track progress as you go. The fish page has a checklist, and it stores progress in your own browser.

To kill faster, read difficulty and control settings: Easy lowers creature health and damage, and it does not change achievement rules.

Collector vs Fishipedia

Both use the same encyclopedia, but they check different sides of it:

Finish Collector before chasing Drip. Waiting on rare Drip spawns will slow the story down badly.

Common questions

Can I just catch them? No. It has to be a kill.

How do I find the one I missed? The empty slot in the encyclopedia is the answer. Do not guess.

Does co-op progress count? The achievement tracks your own record, so a teammate’s kill is not your progress. Finding creatures together is still much faster.
