What a Normal How to Fish Session Actually Looks Like
Strip away the highlight reels and an ordinary run is very routine: clams, small catches, dragging fish inland to kill them, selling or grilling.

Watch too many highlight reels and you start thinking this game has a boss fight every five minutes. Jameskii’s “How to Fish average gameplay” spends sixteen minutes proving the opposite: a normal session is pretty plain. It does not even open on the game, but on dashcam footage of an abandoned boat in a desert. Purely to joke about how absurd the whole thing is.
A normal session, start to finish
The routine barely changes.
Pick up clams on the island, catch small things like Blue Crab and Lobster for starting money, buy a knife or your first gun, then learn the one habit that matters: drag each catch inland before you fight it, because a fish that touches water is gone.
Once it is dead, sell the loot at the shop or grill it for more money, then spend that on better bait and bigger weapons. To tighten the opening. Read the beginner first hour; to check which bait catches what, use all fish locations.
What you run into
Not a curated boss list, but random events: seagulls stealing your stuff over and over, the Sunfish mini-boss everyone dismisses as useless, red pike, swarms of piranhas, and eventually the big Shark. The weapon line runs from bare hands and brass knuckles to the knife, the Shotgun 150 and dynamite.
The moment that sums the game up is somebody stabbing a teammate to death and then calmly going back to fishing.
Physics jank is the selling point and the barrier
GameBrief devotes a whole section to the trick-shot multiplier: melee kills, quickscopes and mid-air kills all pay a bonus, none of it is documented anywhere in-game, and the community mapped it out on Reddit. The airborne kills and grill mark-ups in the video are exactly that system.
The catch is that the same physics makes aiming awkward, wedges fish into the terrain and lets teammates shoot each other. Whether you enjoy it mostly comes down to whether you read that jank as comedy or as an obstacle.
The comments
The top comments are jokes and requests for more videos, with nobody asking about mechanics, which tells you the video and its audience both know it is entertainment. If you want to study systems. Use the wiki pages instead of inferring numbers from one session.
