How to Fish Bean Achievement: Finish Within One Hour
Bean officially means "Finish the game within 1 hour", and only 3.2% of players have it. Where a run loses time, and what to skip.
Bean is the rarest of the 28 achievements: 3.2%.
Its official text is one line: “Finish the game within 1 hour”.
Compare that with the plain completion achievement, “We are so back”, at 45.2%. Most people who finished the game did not finish it inside the hour.
Two things to know before you start
- Patch 1.0.5 closed the old locked-island skip. To get Bean you run the story properly and skip only optional content.
- Difficulty is not listed as a condition. Patch 1.0.9 only changed creature health and damage (Easy is 25% less health and 50% less damage), and the notes never tie achievements to a difficulty. Picking Easy is a fair way to save time.
Where a run actually loses time
An hour sounds tight, but the story is rarely what eats it:

Five decisions to make first
- Start a fresh save. The timer covers one completion, so a finished save is pointless.
- Pick Easy. Creatures die faster and boss phases are shorter.
- Buy only essentials: the boat engine (you cannot travel without it), the lures you need, and ammo. Skip cosmetics and toys.
- Split roles in co-op: one drives, one hands in quest items, and you cut a lot of travel.
- Accept that you are not collecting. No achievements, no encyclopedia, no Drip this run.
Checkpoints along the way
An hour is long. Compare the clock at these points:
- Lighthouse done and the boat key in hand.
- Each island’s hand-in chain finished.
- Just before the mainland endgame.
If any leg is clearly over budget, restart the run. It is faster than pushing a lost attempt to the end.
Common questions
Can I load an old save? The official text does not say. Community guides all treat it as a fresh, single-session run, and this page describes it the same way rather than claiming loading is allowed.
How fast is fast? Community videos show solo runs in the 17-minute range (their version and rules were not verified line by line). That means an hour is generous for a prepared player, so a run that overruns is usually a route or preparation problem, not a reflexes problem.
Can I pair it with Handyman? Handyman wants the final boss killed bare-handed, which fights with going fast. Run them separately.
