A complete run shows a lot: five story islands plus the mainland finale, one boss gate per island, a campaign you finish in hours.

Wondering how long this game actually is before you buy? Insym’s “How to Fish FULL GAME” answers it with nearly four hours of uncut gameplay, no edits and no skipped islands, from the lighthouse to the ending.

Its real value is not telling you where a fish is. It is showing you the pace: when it is at its best, when it starts to repeat, and how long a full run takes.

One path: five islands and a finale

How to Fish is Dazed Games’ 1–4 player physics fishing action game, out on Steam on August 20, 2026. You start with a drunken boat crash and a rule that never changes: catch, kill, sell, upgrade until the next island opens.

Each of the five story islands is gated by a boss fight and a hand-in. Clear those and you reach the mainland finale that patch 1.0.11 calls Island 6. Unlock conditions are on the island progression guide, and the island order is on the full walkthrough.

What actually happens on stream

The first hour or so is pure beginner routine: $1 clams, a $10 radar, a rod, some bait, and dragging your first catch ashore. The middle section moves island by island through catch, kill, sell, upgrade and hand in, with boss triggers and radar markers in between. Island 2 asks you to collect leeches for bait, and later you meet the Pufferfish, sharks, snipers, dynamite and casino machines.

It looks chaotic, but the comments fixate on two jokes: the character is polite solo and feral in a group, and every boss fight ends with someone chasing a seagull yelling “Steven Seagull”. Those two bits say more about the game than any description. It sells chaos with friends, not simulation depth.

A few hours long is not a flaw

GameBrief scored it 7.6/10 and said the loop thins out after the first few hours. Kotaku was blunter, calling it a one-off co-op comedy you can finish in about two hours. Put that next to a four-hour VOD and the pitch is obvious: you are buying one or two evenings of laughs, not a long progression game.

If short and dense chaos is what you want, one full run is plenty. If you want long-term growth, this video is the honest warning.

How to watch or play it

If you only want the payoff, jump to the middle and end for the bosses and the finale. If you plan to play, run through the beginner first hour first and come back to the VOD when you get stuck. Just do not treat the streamer’s improvised reactions as tactics; the boss guide is the reliable version.
